Me....and my feelings

Mind me as this post is going to be merapu2....Read if you like:) but don't digest it...

This is the second week of the new semester for my students, and my new semester as a student will be starting next week...So here are what I felt bout both, being a lecturer to my students and being a student in my study:

Deep frustration...: because of the students attitude...They didn't show up on the first lecture last week with the stupid excuse!! And they didn't even come to the lab on the second week with the same stupid excuse!!! I feel muak with them and do have the feeling that I'm not going to sincerely teaching them...hhhhmmm Do I sound so mean? I think I've reach my limit!! Enough is enough!! I HATE their attitude!! What I hate most was the blaming they're put on others to cover their laziness!!! So, if you are my students and are reading this, please bear in mind that you need your lecturer's blessing in study, or else you knew it...

Annoyed ; with the system here...every semester we've heard the same complaint, we're mumbling the same issues that should've been resolved, since it's the same prob again and again...You guys are paid for any appointed position..so have you really do your job??? Whoever you are (with so elite background) please do it well...as we're complimented each other here!!!

Pressure; because I've setting a high goal for my study in year 2010 (even I don't think I can realize that:(((. So, to achieve that, I need triple the effort. In fact belum apa2 I felt the pressure already:(((. Why am I doing this? cause I'm desperately want to go out of this place... Even if I could not reach the goal at least I've accomplished half of it...

Chicken & Tomato pizza

Asked the kids, what do they like to have this weekend, pizza or pie (since mama is in the good mood to cook:))). and they wanted to have pizza!! So, let's pizza. I think, I gave the recipes on pizza dough and topping on my last entry. However, I gave the recipes once again in case you gals malas nak search my blog:)) So, chaiyok!chaiyok!chaiyok! let's try:)))

Pizza Dough Ingredients:
200g high protein flour
1tsp dried yeast (I used mauripan)
1tsp salts
1tbsp oil (I used olive oil)
110ml water (depends on the type of flour you used)

Used half of the yeast and dissolve in some water and sugar(lil bit only) and let it ferment. This method is best for the nice aroma of bread, pizza etc. When u see lots of bubbles, the yeast is ready to rock!. In a mixer bowl, put the yeast (all included the fermented we did above), flour, salts (make sure u gals follow my steps as not to mix the yeast directly with the salt or else the yeast will go into the comma state!), and olive oil. Pour the water, and beat the dough with the mixer.Make sure you don't pour all the water into the dough (tgk keadaan ok!). The dough is ready when you didn't see any flour sticking at the mixing bowl.

Next, rest the dough for half an hour or until double of its volume. Then the kneading process started. Knead the dough to let the air out and then rest the dough again. after that take the dough and shape as you like (pizza bulat or pizza square:)). Then rest the dough again...Then put the topping on top of the dough and ready to bake at 180deg-200deg for about 20-30mins.

Pizza Topping:
Chicken (mince chicken or chopped is ok as u wish)
Tomato (slices)
Tomato paste
Dried oregano
Mozarrela and parmesan (grated)
onion (half for chicken and the other half for pizza topping)
carrot cut into cube

Saute half of the onion with the chicken and carrot. Cool aside. First step of topping the pizza is sapu the first layer with tomato paste, followed by the cooked chicken, then the other half of the onion. Arrange the slices tomato on top of it. Last spread the mozarella and parmesan...and siap!!!

Next time, I'll make lasagna! Even I knew Aiman didn't like it, but mama looooveesss lasagna so much:)))We'll see if mama's homemade lasagna will tempted Aiman or not..So, wait till then:))

Pie Aiman&Alisa

It's pie time:))!! While looking at one of the cooking book, I've came across with the pie recipe, and I'm in the good mood to cook (@rajin la tuh:)) Personally, I prefer the pie dough by Chef Anna Olson as it looks simple and yummy!!.

However, the dough I'm making was according to Nora's recipe (ala...the singer tu). The dough is crispy, but I don't like the butter taste. Next time (if I got the same rajin aura la...), plan to reduce the amount of butter and see what happen. So, friends, why not you give a try too:))) Here's the recipe...

Pie Dough:
100g flour
50g butter
pinch of salt
2tbs water

Mix the flour, salt and butter until it becomes crumb, then pour the water and mix with your hands to form a dough. Then shape the dough using the rolling pin.Make sure you left quarter of the dough to cover the pie (this is optional ok:)) Put on the pan and bake for 5-6 minutes at 200deg.

Then take out the pie base and put the filling. Cover the filling with the dough. Make sure you make some incisions on top of it (Can't remember the exact reason for this, but this is a must do step from what I saw kat AFC la:)))

Bake the pie for 15-20minutes until it cooks. Oooppsss forgot!! If you wanna have a golden brown pie, make sure you sapu with egg yolk:))

Filling (Actually the filling is up to you):
Onion - slices
Garlic- slices
Mince meat
potato (boiled for fast cooking) then cut into cube
Carrot cut into cube
Dried oregano, basil and parsley (up to you ok:))
Mushroom cream soup
black pepper (if you like spicy, slice some chilies)

Don't think I need to explain the filling steps:)), all you have to do is campak2 everything as you normally cook la:)))

See the incisions I made:))) and the filling was super yummy!!(angkat bakul sendiri uhuks)

Look at the golden brown color from the egg yolk, however it won't affect the taste pun!!!

And as usual, every new food needs to pass the QA department :))

Mama: Adik sedap tak?
Alisa : Sedap sangat2
Aiman: Betul2 sedap chef...
Aiman: (While eating) Mama, beribu2 kali sedap

and me enjoy the good comments from them....

My best friend's engagement...

Congrat to Sya!! She's officially engaged on 18th Dec which is on awal muharram:))) May Allah bless her and cepat2 tie the knot:))).

So, to anybody out there,Sya is no more an available bachelor:)) so tak leh ngorat2 dah...

So pretty!!! Perempuan melayu terakhir gitu...

Broken link...

I was so frustrated + annoyed + feel like punching somebody today!!! Things that suppose to be so simple had turned complicated (It's not like national issue or something pun!!!). It just a matter of simple info passed from the boss to the subordinate and viola!! that's all it takes. And the most affected due to the broken link: me!!!

Really, I can't take it!! Hate this situation which I was trapped in the middle of their work style.I knew, in reality; that's how management is, but there should be a certain limit to it!!!

Homemade cookies

I was inspired to make the biscuit after watching AFC.Actually, it was far from difficult,so easy peasy!!:)) Therefore,to all my friends out there it's worth a try:)))

Here's the recipe:

500g flour
250g butter
3 eggs
100g sugar
100g chocolate bar break into pieces (I used choc chip instead)
100g hazelnut/almond or any nuts as you like

I put some baking powder and oats:)) Actually it's your cookies and you're the chef,so just put anything you like:)))

Mix the ingredients altogether (this what I like most about biscuits,rojak2!).And mould as you like...Put in the oven at 200-250deg for about 15-20 minutes. And your biscuit is ready to be served!!!

As usual la,I have my own peminat, put anything on the table, they'll sure like it:))

Potato wedges

Feels like eating homemade wedges cam KFC:) so, taraaa!!! Let's try...

I used the recipe by chef Michael Smith.Cut the potatoes into wedges (don't peel off the skin, as the aroma of the roasted skin was yummy!!!). Sprinkle some salts, dried basil and parsley and black pepper.

Leave for a while before roasted in the oven at 200deg for about 15-20mins. and viola!!! ready to your mouth:))). I like to have it hot, the taste was not bad as the original potatoes' sweetness were preserved due to the cooking method. However, I guess need to add more black pepper to get the kick taste:))

And... the moment of truth!, comments from internal food critics (Aiman and Alisa):))

Aiman : Mama, kenapa takde kuah? (He meant the cheese as in cheesy wedges!!)
Mama : Ok, lepas ni mama belajar macam mana nak buat cheese tu...
Alisa : Adik suka, tapi kenapa tak rasa sangat cam KFC tu?
Aiman : Hmmm..ada la sikit2 rasa cam KFC
Mama : Rasanya KFC tu pakai perasa kot...,Takpe, lepas ni mama try bubuh banyak black pepper, mungkin rasa dia sama...
Alisa : Adik tak reti nak cakap, hhhmmm cam ni lah ma..sedap banyak, tak sedap sikit...cam tu lah ma rasa dia
Mama :#$@%*

Though, with so much comment from them, the wedges were gone within few seconds gak:))

Toyol

Watched one of the korean talk show; discussing on what do they think of korean guys in colleges. The answers were based on public/viewers voting. The first answer was pool hall, which most of the male students used to spend their time playing pool, which they said it's a non sweating sport. According to them, they'll produce a smelly sweat (they addressed as 'soju sweat') if they were into sweating game such as football etc. However, that was not an issues here:)))

Surprisingly, the second answers was toyol (cheat sheets). They practiced various methods in bringing the cheat sheets in the exam hall; such as wrote on their palm, put the sheets in between their tie!! (there's a hole at the back of the tie), which I never think of the method before or sticking the sheets onto the drink cans, which they mentioned that, there were some kinds of drink cans in which the info bout the drink was printed on the special paper and stick onto the can. So, they replaced the cheat sheets instead, and put the can on the table and terang2 meniru just like that, without the invigilator noticed that!!!

I guess the students should think of other ways in channeling their creativity rather than misused it:))) So...toyol among students is like global issues:))). However, my advice for muslim students,it's about your salary earned with the cheating result, which you'll gonna feed your future family with....So, think of it:)))

Happy 6th Birthday to Alisa Sofia!!

Today my lil princess,Alisa turns 6:))) She's been calculating for her birthday since early November!!:)). We asked her for the birthday present, since she can't decide between Barbie doll or kid's laptop. Last time, the answer was

"Nanti adik fikirkan..."

Finally, yesterday, she said;

"Adik nak laptop utk birthday adik, masa birthday abang nanti baru adik nak Barbie".

Actually she has nothing to lose since Aiman's birthday is just around the corner, so sooner or later she'll get both:)).

While, I'm writing this, Alisa approached me with the question:

"Mama, esok birthday adik lagi ke?" (Sort of birthday month la kot..:))))

Anyway, Alisa if you read this, mama and abah would like to wish:

"Happy Birthday! We love you:).
May all the best in the world be yours.
May Allah bless you and my pray for you to grown up as a good Muslimah."

Easy comes easy goes

I would like to re-express myself:) in this post which has to do with the previous entry,Integrity.Quoting from Carter on the meaning of integrity which requires 3 steps:

1. discerning what is right and what is wrong
2. acting on what you have discerned, even at personal cost
3. saying openly that you are acting on your understanding of right from wrong

I strongly believe in this even it had cost my career...Not bragging that I'm a person with full integrity, but I'm trying working towards that...

I've noticed one thing, which I took it as a compliment; appreciation from my ex-students. Even they've been through the hard time during their lesson with me (of course at that time, they felt like punching me or bombing my car or kutuk sikit2 as they used to say:))).However, after they've graduated, they came to me and thanked me for what I've done, that they'll turned into somebody. It was nothing compared to being promoted, but I knew,I've done my part and Insyallah they'll realize one day.

There's a saying that "easy comes easy goes" which I'm still hold on to it. As you'll only value thing when it is so difficult to get. And it's my well known practice; teach students the hard way...:)

Above all, I would like to remind myself and others that 'respect' is not something that you can demand (hhmmm think back!...actually, being a boss you can demand a respect, but you can't differentiate whether it is a fake:), This goes to whom that didn't deserve the respect la... uhuks!!) but you need to gain!! As for me it's so simple, you don't have to be intelligent all the times (come on la..human being must got flaws kan??!!) nor being bossy all the time!!(this type is yyyaaakkk!!!)...Just be yourself and practice a good values for others to follow (I believe this is integrity, right?) and admit any mistakes you've done, as it never mean that you're weak but again human tend to make mistake...

So, if you believe that you're right, hold on to it no matter what!!!

Sudah jatuh ditimpa tangga...

It's been few days of raining...We're having a heavy traffic jam here in Bukit Kuang due to the small bridge that linked us to Bandar Chukai. This is the only way for all workers in KSB, Perwaja,Teluk Kalong industrial area and for us as well:(( Actually I would like to address this as unnnecessary jam which could be avoided with 'sincere' management...

Previously, the jam will occurs during prime time (7-8am in the morning and 4-5pm in the evening). This condition will get worst during school time especially in the morning. It was like a must morning ritual la, being stranded in the jam!!! However, what I regret most is the complaint on the jambatan had gone for so long with no action taken!!! Worsen the condition with so many holes on the road due to heavy raining which contributed to seriously traffic jam (Hmmm, again something to ponder, why can't the road stand the weather exchange, while some of its still ok?? Which I think might related to cost cutting which lead to quality reducing).

Imagine it only took me 10 minutes driving to the office. Now it is more than an hour to reach home!!!! I was so geram as I feel like I'm working in KL which I kind of understand la if I'm in KL, but come on laaa we live in KEMAMAN!!! What a funny statement to make!!!

Added to my frustration list, is the shortage of water supply at the new building which is our faculty!!! We in the fourth level need to come down and went to other building everytime to fulfill our hajat!!! and now with the rainy season... warrrghhhh!!! Not to mention the leakage everywhere in the building...For some who read this might ask: Why don't you lodge a report instead of mumbling here??? The answer is, it's like mencurahkan air ke daun keladi..They'll came out with an annoyed answer,It's JKR or SATU..So we have to 'accomodate' ourselves and pandai2 la ko nak hidup!!!

Do it sounds like too much complaint here? But, be in our shoes:((
So, having to sometimes tahan the nature call, and having to face the bad traffic jam was soooo unbearable!!!

Please laaa all of us have our own role to play. I'll do mine and you do yours...won't it be nice???

Exam papers

I was marking the exam papers with Alisa beside me. She was curiously looking at each pages I was working on...

Alisa : Mama periksa kertas anak murid mama ke?
Mama : Ya
Alisa : Kenapa tempat yg tak ada jawapan mama tanda jugak?
Mama : Sebab dia tak tulis jawapan jadi mama pangkah la.
Alisa : Kenapa anak murid mama ni malas sangat?

Integrity...

Most of us are familiar or at least heard this term-->Integrity.

So, why I'm concern with this? Because of the big impact it has if it is not being practice...With or without noticing it, we are the leader in any ways. The parents is a leader to their kids, husband is a leader to a wife, lecturer/teacher is a leader to students, boss is a leader to the subordinates. So by having an integrity we are paving the good paths for others to follow:)) Thus,if we don't have this values,we are not helping in producing good human resources...and don't blame others (which we are guiding/molding now) for their well beings in the future as it's the impact of our ignorance today...

Integrity as a concept has to do with perceived consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcome. People use integrity as a holistic concept, judging the integrity of systems in terms of those systems' ability to achieve their own goals (if any). A value system's abstraction depth and range of applicable interaction may also function as significant factors in identifying integrity due to their congruence or lack of congruence with empirical observation. A value system may evolve over time while retaining integrity if those who espouse the values account for and resolve inconsistencies.

Some people see integrity as the quality of having a sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one's actions. Some people use the term "hypocrisy" in contrast to integrity for asserting that one part of a value system demonstrably conflicts with another, and to demand that the parties holding apparently conflicting values account for the discrepancy or change their beliefs to improve internal consistency (seen as a virtue).

The etymology of the word "integrity" can suggest insight into its use and meaning. It stems from the Latin adjective integer (whole, complete). In this context, integrity may comprise the personal inner sense of "wholeness" deriving from (say) honesty and consistency of character. As such, one may judge that others "have integrity" to the extent that one judges whether they be=\have according to the values, beliefs and principles they claim to hold.

In a formal study of the term "integrity" and its meaning in modern ethics, law professor Stephen L. Carter sees integrity not only as a refusal to engage in behavior that evades responsibility. He sees it also as an understanding of different modes or styles in which some discourse takes place, and that tries to discover some truth.

Carter writes:

Integrity [...] requires three steps: (1) discerning what is right and what is wrong; (2) acting on what you have discerned, even at personal cost; and (3) saying openly that you are acting on your understanding of right from wrong.[...] Integrity [...] is not the same as honesty [...]

Rain,rainy,raining....

I'm back home...!!!! after 3 days out of the house due to taking care of Adam in the hospital. And it's been raining non stop starting from last week...So, my story is related to raining which lead to leaking and move on to arranging!!!:)))

Due to heavy rain and sometimes the cat and dog raining, our house is leaking everywhere...Even though it is a new house which only age 4 years!!! In the living room centered at the fan and on top of my settees, in our family area right in front of the tv and in the computer's room just beside the printer and on top of the book's cabinet...Hmmmm all at the best spot area kan!!!

So, in order to protect the furniture, I started to arrange and move things in the computer's room. Instead of moving cabinets and computers, I was actually arranging and mengemas altogether, which took me a whole day!!! Sorting, organizing and throwing (Rule no.1 in housekeeping, throw all the unnecessaries, which I like most!!!:))) And now my back and legs are aching...:(((

Back in the office today, I spotted the kulat all over the blinder...yyaaakkkk!!!! I am so good at imagine things:))) So I can't help thinking breathing in the small closed room with no aeration, only the air conditioner, I am actually taking all the kulat while breathing.....waaaa!!!! So, I called the akak cleaner to wipe out the kulat....Fuhhh!!! now I can breath:))) Fortunately, no leaking in my room as compared to other collegues. Some of their rooms were leaking and damaged the office equipment!!!

Whatsoever, I've no complain, as this is what nature has promise us, and that's the way Allah is testing us:) Just redha and pray the weather will be better and no flood!!!!

Adam allergic

It's been a while since my last time posting to this blog:))) During this inactive period so many unexpected and haru biru incidents happened, and surely be the headline of the week!!! and it's all about my baby Adam...

Adam had a mild fever on Sunday night, at first I thought it was due to the uncertain weather, so I gave him 3ml of paracetamol and his fever gone, relief...I told hubby on the phone that Adam having a mild fever and nothing to worry .

Coming back from work on Monday, noticed his temperature rose and he had a mild fever again with few red spots on his leg.Thought it probably a normal rash and gave him another dose of paracetamol and the temperature went down again...I woke up at night as Adam hadn't sleep,he cried 'ata, ata, ata' (ata=gatal) and asked me to scratch for him and he's having a mild fever again. The red spots were obvious and had been spreading on his legs, stomach as well as his face....Ohhh!!! it must be measles then...(as what I've thought) and the red spots look like heavy rashes covering his body.

Started with some red spots which turned out to be a severe allergic...

I took a day off on Tuesday to monitor his measles...Cal
led our family Dr. and described Adam's condition. He told me to monitor his fever, as he afraid that it might be dengue or virus fever. If the fever was not ok within 24hours, he advised that I went to the hospital for blood test (Oh! God, hope this is just measles as I expected:((( ).

In the afternoon I noticed that the 'measles' turn to ben
gkak at some parts of his body (which I thought might be due to scratches, as Adam told 'ata' 'ata' as he scratching the measles). I called hubby and told bout Adam's worse condition and hubby asked me to phone the Dr. again. Dr. asked me to seek expert advise for blood test and further treatment. So, I rushed Aiman, Alisa and my maid to get dress as we'll be going to KMC which is about an hour driving. We reached KMC at 1.40pm.

At 2.15 pm we met the pediatrician, Dr Yeo. At the time Adam's condition was worst with the red spots all over his body and covered his face!!! Once Dr. saw Adam, he said it was 'allergic gegata'. It maybe caused by food, wrong medicine or due to high fever. However, from my story he suspected it was due to food, which at that time I can't remember any 'unusual' food Adam has had before. So, he advised Adam to be warded for close monitoring, which I was kind of expected...and a teary scene was about to begin...

The nurse told me to wait as there was no room available, fully booked!!! so, ok la... I waited and it was 2.30pm.Almost 4pm, we were still patiently waiting, with Aiman and Alisa running and playing which was annoying as all the other patients were looking at us due to the noise they're making, Adam started to feel unease and the itchiness was unbearable, and the bengkak can be clearly seen. Some of the bengkak had turn to bluish. He started to cry, I felt uncomfortable as some of the patients were eying Adam and I knew the pity look they had for him...

I checked with the nurse for our room and with the guilty feeling, she told me the room was still not ready.I knew that she felt bad for me and tried her best to locate the room, thanks to her best effort! despite of the overwhelming frustration I had:))...

Thus,I decided to go to the mall which was situated just beside the hospital for a walk while waiting to be warded. So we went to makan2 at one of the fast food restaurant (I haven't had anything since morning!!!). After finished our lunch cum dinner, we went to the bookstore as it is kids fav. place
and I knew time'll flew fast in there. So, Aiman and Alisa went bersepah2 looking for their books and I asked Adam to choose him too. Even Adam enjoyed being in the bookstore as he didn't throw his tantrum and eagerly looking for his book, Alhamdulillah, felt half of the burden was gone at that time...At least everybody forgot for a while about the exhaustion waiting session. After each of us found our books, we went back to hospital as I hoped the room should be ready...

"Akak, sori sangat, bilik akak kita dah book, tapi patient still tak keluar lagi.Akak tunggu sekejap eekkk, saya pun dah tak tahu nak buat apa..."

Hearing the words, made me felt tired,
frustrated and I really wanted to cry!!!!!! So, here again I waited...At 6pm, the nurse told me:

"Akak, kita pergi A&E room dulu lah, Dr. nak amik darah"

So, we went there, and waited again...:((( I couldn't stop thinking, why were the hospital's management were sooo bad...they should allocated more rooms,bla...bla...bla (really can't help it!!!)Then, the Dr. arrived, and directed me to the A&E room for blood taking and needle insertion for his medication later ...Dr. stopped me from accompanying Adam, maybe he saw my tense and crying face kot (due to long waiting...).

So, I waited outside the room (the door was close yaaa...) Not longer a
fter that, I heard Adam's loud crying and listened to that was unbearable...but still managed to control the tears from coming out...After about 15minutes, they called me to take Adam out...Adam was crying non-stop, I was really touched and started to feel tears running out from my eyes...

"akit..akit...akit ma..." Adam cried (akit=sakit)

I tried to persuaded him, but he refused and continuously crying.I noticed that he was actually screaming,akit..akit...akit sort of unconscious.I can't afford anymore but crying with him...I don't care others looking at me, I really don't care!!!

After another waiting session with Adam and me crying together, I received a call from the ward saying that the room was ready, so we went there. When I arrived at the room, I was confused as I saw bags and other belongings on the bed.So, I asked them whether the room was mine, and they told me:

"Sorry, akak, waktu saya telefon akak tu, saya ingat akak duduk kat Terengganu (they thought I went back to kemaman while waiting for the room, which I wouldn't do!!!), rupanya akak dah ada kat dalam hospital ni. So, kita tak sempat kemas lagi barang patient yg sebelum ni (they were in the process of transferring the prev. patient to the next room)".

I knew they noticed me crying and I can't afford showing any 'sweet' face anymore...Adam was still crying and sometimes screaming...and fortunately the pediatrician was there visiting his patient. I can see his guilty feeling, since he saw me waited everywhere!!! and nothing he can do about it!!! So, h e asked the nurse to locate us at the special waiting room (the room is provided for ICU patient's family).

"Let the baby playing in there with the air conditioned room, so that he'll feel better" he said.

And we were waiting again, but this time it was much, much better, thanks to him!!! Adam had stop crying, he started to play with Alisa, putting a big smile on his face...sigh...

Waiting in the special room...

Finally, at 7pm, our suffering period ended, the room was ready. We settled down and a while later Adams's medication started...Hubby arrived at 10.30 from Kuala Terengganu.

needle insertion...Adam exhausted

We stayed in the hospital for 3 days, and discharged on Friday... Dr. remind us that the allergi
c might come back and thus we have to be extra careful with his food and next time if it happen again make sure he receives an early treatment...I'll surely remember that, as I can't bear facing the same situation again...

Adam after has been fully recovered...started discovering:)))

Kids in adult world...

While lepak2 with me on the bed, Alisa had this conversation with Aiman:

Alisa : Mama, adik tahu macam mana mama bersalinkan Adam.Doktor belah perut mama kat sini kan..(while demonstrating the cutting horizontally on her stomach)

Mama : Betul lah tu....

Alisa : Macam mana ni ma, adik takutlah, nanti adik ada baby kena belah cam tu...(Hmmm visionary imagination:)))

Aiman : Abang takpe, tak yah bersalin,tapi...abang kena bersunat.Sakit tak ma org sunat pakai pisau?

Alisa : Tak yah pakai pisau, pakai laser jek...tak sakit...

Mama : Aiikkk!!! Macam mana adik tahu?

Alisa : Kawan adik cakap...

Jalan-jalan weekend...

With hubby working far away from us, I realized one thing; quality time. We really appreciate the limited time we had.Every weekend is a family time out. It's not necessary to be far away from home, what matter most is the time we spent together...

Smile!!!

Presenting my new cake collection:)))!! (baik nyer promo ok!)-->> Orange Choc Mousse Cake.
This cake was specially invented for K. Nyza. Why? She asked me to bake her cake, with orange taste...So, I came up with this new invention (perasan gileerrr!!) Thanks for her creative request...

This cake used choc sponge cake as its base, layered with zest taste of orange, and finally covered with choc and almond spread as its topping. Flavor wise, don't know yet, need to confirm with her:)))

Hooray!! Time

Final year exam is finally over for Aiman and Alisa. Today Aiman had his last paper and Alisa has ponteng already:)) Everyday, I'll ask Aiman abt his exam and as usual the answer is ...easy peasy!!! (Don't absorbed by his answer ok).

Mama: Abang punya exam hari ni senang tak?

Aiman: Senang jek, abang pikir betul2 sebelum jawab macam mama ajar.

or sometimes the conversation goes this way...

Mama: Soalan exam kat sekolah abang lagi susah or yg abang buat latihan kat rumah?

Aiman: Yang kat rumah lagi susah. Or kadang2 he said; yg kat sekolah lagi susah dari yg kat rumah.

and today he had science paper, and when I asked him which one is more difficult, he said:

"Dua2 senang jek..."

Just wait for his result:))))

chicky Adam

Adam is now soooo good at imitating:)) Sometimes when Alisa is crying he'll imitates her with his cute chicky face...

I was sneezing and he'll do it as well "ahem! ahem!" as he said it. Last time, we were at the supermarket, and this baby was about to cry, and he imitated from afar "weeekkk!" and the baby stop, and then started to cry again, so as Adam he stopped and cried again, and then he chuckled happily while imitating the baby:))))

Cehh...ikum..

Adam is nearly 1 1/2 years old. Alhamdulillah his vocab has expand progressively...

When we give something to Adam he will say "cehh"... meaning terima kasih. When he stand near the door with his hand knocking and he'll say "ikum".. for Assalamualaikum.

He is also good in comforting Alisa when she's crying. He'll pat his hand on Alisa or lend his hand and take Alisa to Mama. Sometimes, during bed time, when I ordered Aiman or alisa to sleep, he will also lend his hand and bring his abang or kakak to the room:))) (after that he'll play with them in the room!!! serampang dua mata la nih...)

Everytime, I return from work, he'll show the key ,"ici,"ici" a sign to take him out for a ride. He'll cry if I take off my veil, since he knew, I'll wear my veil before going out:))) Toddler is indeed a good observer!!!

Rest, Rest,Rest!!!!

Went to see my supervisor yesterday to discuss on the study progress(as usual la, need to report and update).Discussed on the paper I've submitted to him + the book I've sent him and another book I'm working on right now...and I asked him for any new idea for the next paper and he told me:

"No, I give you a rest for 2 months, you've done enough...."

and I was terkejut bergolek2!!! It's a rest! It's a rest! Hoorayyy!!!! But I knew, I need to work hard after this.Meanwhile for the time being just enjoy the rest time:))))!!!

And the real story is...

Hubby confirmed on the story of 'orang gila' told by Aiman...The story is true, however it didn't happen in the school area. A secondary school student from SIS was slashed by the crazy man on the way to his school!!! He got injured, so all teachers remind students to be within school area and don't go outside the school's fence to avoid any bad things from happen...

Hhhhmmm how insecure I felt with our children safety even if they are in school!!! Pray to God to always protect our children...Aminn....

Kids stories

Alisa told me she don't wanna go to school because she has no friends (gal friends).

Alisa: Adik tak de kawan.Semua budak perempuan tak nak kawan ngan adik... (actually there are only three gals in her class including her:)))

Mama: Kenapa diorang tak nak kawan ngan adik?

Alisa: A... (cant mention her name) kata adik comot..

Mama: Sapa kata adik comot, adik kan comel...

Alisa: (with her sheepish look) Dia kata adik makan comot sebab tu dia tak nak kawan ngan adik

Mama: Kawan yang baik dia akan kawan ngan adik walaupun adik comot, tak pandai ataupun susah....

and I can see she was sad and demotivated...

Aiman was another story: He told me there was orang gila mengamuk at the school's surau. I'm not sure whether this is just a rumor...and the story become more tragic..jeng!jeng!jeng!

Aiman: Tadi ada orang mengamuk kat surau. Kawan abang kata dia budak lelaki, dia dah mengamuk kat sekolah SIS.Dia pegang cangkul pastu dia cangkul kepala budak sekolah SIS tu sampai mati.

I was seram sejuk jugak listened to his story, and he added;

"Semua budak perempuan kelas abang menangis tadi.Cikgu tutup pintu bilik darjah.Abang menangis jugak, tapi skit jek tak banyak sebab abang berdebar..."

Hmmm, need to confirm with his school teacher after this...And as usual la, Aiman and Alisa are always full of curiosity:

Aiman: Mama, kenapa Allah jadikan semua manusia, pastu dia jadikan orang gila jugak?

*&!@#$...pening mama nak jawab.

And Alisa came out with her 'brilliant' conclusion,

"Macam2 orang pelik ada kat sekolah abang, ada orang kena rotan lah, ada orang gila lah...kan mama?:)))"

Adam got flu:(((

Took Adam to the clinic on Sunday since he showed a flu symptom. According to the doc. he just had a mild flu with no fever nor cough. So doc gave me the flu + cough medicine with very mild dose. However, since last night, the flu is getting worse and he started to cough frequently. And today he was crying a lots maybe due to uncomfortable or blocking in his nose...I'm not sure whether now is a flu season or it's his way of missing hubby...:(((

Meanwhile, Alisa asked me yesterday:

"Mama, berapa lama abah nak keje, balik lama cam ni?"

and my answer was, until abah get a new job here...and she said;

"Adik lagi suka abah keje kat perwaja sebab abah boleh balik tengah hari, abah boleh hantar ngan amik adik pegi sekolah..."

and i'm pretty sure, they're gonna ask me the same question again n again...:((

I'm not complaining, it just that I can't bear seeing my kids missing his abah and started to create an empty space between them and hubby. However, I can see hubby is really trying his best to fill this gap during the weekend. He spent most of his rest time by doing all the family activities that we used to do the whole weekdays, end up both of us is exhausted:(((

Really hope this won't last longer...and with the blessing from Allah, we'll find our way for a better solution...

Credit card

Listened to budget 2010 just now, one of the issue caught my attention...credit card. As mentioned by pm, to encourage the good spending habit gov had decided to increase RM 50 gov tax on the principal credit card holder + RM 25 for supplementary annual fee including for the free waive credit card.

I think it is a wise step taken by the gov as most of the credit card holders are freshies which were just graduated. This group of users tend to spend more than their income (talking from my personal experience ok!!). They might end up being moneyless and spending their whole salary paying the credit card debt their whole life!!!

I've terminated all my credit cards and only spend with cash. Not to brag that I've money but this is the only best way to stop me from spending luxuriously without considering the actual money I own. Alhamdulillah, it works, cause I know I can't spend if I don't have cash:)) and I've ease my monthly financial burden from paying the credit card...It turns out to be ok jek if you don't have credit card (cause last time I thought credit card is crucial!!!).

However, don't feel offended with my view cause I know there are still many people out there know how to use their credit card wisely:)))...

Me and kids...

Due to my full daily schedule, I've made some adjustments on Aiman Quran's class. Before, hubby will fetch kids from school at 1pm and at 3pm I'll send Aiman to KAFA.However, with me taking care of everything now + I'm a worker as well:)) I have to cancel his Quran class and teach him myself everyday after Maghrib prayer. I knew that I need full patience in teaching kids, but somehow my mood will be influenced with daily tiring routine:((( and sometimes I put the anger on him, feel so sad when I'm doing that, but most of the times it is uncontrollable...But I notice one thing, Aiman's achievement is much depend on my teaching mood; yesterday I was tired and having mood swing and Aiman was quite slow:((( Just now, I taught him without tense and he can recite 2 and half pages of the Muqaddam by himself with minor corrections...Alhamdulillah!!! I feel like crying..(Bear with my sensitive and over emo nowadays...)

Different story for Alisa and Adam. During the Quran lesson for Aiman, I always ordered Alisa to take her Qiraati and teach Adam (Not real teaching yaa!!!) so that Adam will not disturb Aiman and it works every time!!! Adam seems to understand that he has to learn as well. Sometimes Adam get bored and Alisa will gives Adam pencils and papers to draw or play with him to distract his attention...This is what Alisa is best at...Taking care of her lil brother caringly +lovingly + sisterly. I really adore her for this...

Thanks God I'm blessed with these precious kids. Even though there are times that Alisa will have her very3 bad mood swings which I can't tolerate, but I knew it is all a growing up process that I need to cope and bear with...

Kids if you are reading this, I would like you to know that: I LOVE YOU ALL and thanks for being patient with MAMA as well....

Kids confuse...

Last night Alisa asked me:

"Mama, abah mana?"

and this morning Aiman came out with the same question,

"Mama, kenapa abah tak balik2 dr kerja?

Actually, I've told them before, that hubby will be working in a new place in KT and will be back every weekend.I thought they understood, since they were not asking about their abah last week. Only this week that I understand what they've been thinking; they thought their abah is working out for a while, like having short course or something...

So I explained to them, that abah had moved to a new workplace in KT and he'll be back every weekend and abah will continue doing that for quite a long time...Aiman came up with this statement:

"Mama, abah dah tak keje kat Perwaja dah ke? and I said "no"
"Habis kawan2 lama abah cemana? Abah takde kawan la sebab dia tinggal kawan2 dia."

So I guess this is what we mean as friendship forever...Beside, kids are unpredictable...and as for me, I hate living in this situation:(((

pink eye-mc-conference...

I'm suffering from pinkeye, obviously infected from Adam:) So yesterday we went to see the doc to get mc:)) Doc gave me two days mc...Hooray!!! it's a rest from work. However I had a conference from 19th-21st that I have to attend since my supervisor will surely looking for his anak buah ni:)))!! So, need to attend lah and show him my spirit kengkononnya...

So here I am this morning attending the conference with my sepet and redden eyes:))). My presentation is actually on wednesday. So, today is basically the registration and keynote session. I arrived at 8.05 in the morning and among the earliest participants la, ahaks!! After finish the registration, I waited for my supervisor at the lobby... cam bagus jek!!!!

At 5min before 9am saw him with his colleague, and as i expected, his eyes moved around looking for me!!!! Waived at him and with his big smile, he approached me, and introduced me to his friend...

I told him I had conjunctivitis, and he sort of terkejut skit and I told him don't look into my eyes!!! After the first keynote session, I went back home since I don't feel comfortable with my eyes, and feels like so many discharges coming out from it.

Hair cut day

Today seems to be our family hair cut day, since each one of us had our hair done today:)) The first session started with hubby and sons.

Adam is sleepy, so this time he cried all the way through the cutting session...

Adam with his botak look:))

After sending Adam home from the barber shop (he was sleepy and buat perangai), it's the ladies time went to the saloon. I had my hair cut first and as usual I'll make it short enough so it'll take me months to come back to the saloon.

Meanwhile,I had a deal with Alisa to only shorten her front hair and let the back hair to grow long...Actually, I prefer to cut her hair short for easy maintenance:)) however, she's now a growing up gal and she'll decide her look...ahaks!!!

It's not Alisa without her talkative mouth! she's keep telling the kakak potong rambut to only cut the front hair, instructed her this and that, and she'll never sit still for once!!! Fortunately, the saloon belongs to my friends and she knew Alisa well and layan all her attitudes:)))

Tiramisu Cake

With hubby in da house, I manage to find time for another cakes baking...Tiramisu. I've postponed this for quite long times:)). The mascaporne cheese must be ordered from the bakery due to less/no demand for the cheese in this area:))) Try to make my own lady finger...There are many types of tiramisu cakes available in the market using the sponge cakes as its base. However, the classic tiramisu cakes used the lady finger dipped into the coffee as its base. So this time I go the traditional way:)))

The preparations of this cake were tedious with various method such as the prep of the coffee dipping, the zabaglione cream and the lady finger (ready made from bakery is quite expensive and not so good for selling purpose:))). What is lady finger? It's basically a biscuit, if i'm not mistaken the biscuit was only ate by the italian bangsawan zaman dulu2 la.and after that it was commercialized and can be eaten by everybody from any ranks.

The price of the mascaporne cheese is too expensive with RM30 for 300gm...No wonder the price of tiramisu cake in the market is expensive. After finish the layer process, the cake need to be refrigerated for 3-4 hrs and voila! ready to eat...

Tiramisu cake powdered with coco on top as its finishing

Slices of the cake, the brown color is the lady finger dipped in the coffee

Alisa enjoyed the cake most, since she likes cheese, yogurt etc. However, Aiman is not into 'weird' western taste, ala2 melayu sejati gitu. He only had it once and no more. However, due to nak jaga hati mama, he said of course the cake is tasty...:))

Pink eye

Adam suffers from pink eye (sakit mata), also known as Madras eye or scientifically known as conjunctivitis. He just got it from nowhere, and hubby noticed it late last night. First, we thought the milk might got into his eye. However when he woke up this morning we found unusual discharge around his eyes.

Adam's right eye with pink swollen around the conjunctiva...

These are some info on pink eye:

About Pinkeye

Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pinkeye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids.

While pinkeye can be alarming because it may make the eyes extremely red and can spread rapidly, it's a fairly common condition and usually causes no long-term eye or vision damage. But if your child shows symptoms of pinkeye, it's important to see a doctor. Some kinds of pinkeye go away on their own, but other types require treatment.

Causes

Pinkeye can be caused by many of the bacteria and viruses responsible for colds and other infections, — including ear infections, sinus infections, and sore throats — and by the same types of bacteria that cause the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Pinkeye also can be caused by allergies. These cases tend to happen more frequently among kids who also have other allergic conditions, such as hay fever. Triggers of allergic conjunctivitis include grass, ragweed pollen, animal dander, and dust mites.

Sometimes a substance in the environment can irritate the eyes and cause pinkeye; for example, chemicals (such as chlorine and soaps) and air pollutants (such as smoke and fumes).

Pinkeye in Newborns

Newborns are particularly susceptible to pinkeye and can be more prone to serious health complications if it goes untreated.

If a baby is born to a mother who has an STD, during delivery the bacteria or virus can pass from the birth canal into the baby's eyes, causing pinkeye. To prevent this, doctors give antibiotic ointment or eye drops to all babies immediately after birth. Occasionally, this preventive treatment causes a mild chemical conjunctivitis, which typically clears up on its own. Doctors also can screen pregnant women for STDs and treat them during pregnancy to prevent transmission of the infection to the baby.

Many babies are born with a narrow or blocked tear duct, a condition which usually clears up on its own. Sometimes, though, it can lead to conjunctivitis.

Symptoms

The different types of pinkeye can have different symptoms. And symptoms can vary from child to child.

One of the most common symptoms is discomfort in the eye. A child may say that it feels like there's sand in the eye. Many kids have redness of the eye and inner eyelid, which is why conjunctivitis is often called pinkeye. It can also cause discharge from the eyes, which may cause the eyelids to stick together when the child awakens in the morning. Some kids have swollen eyelids or sensitivity to bright light.

In cases of allergic conjunctivitis, itchiness and tearing are common symptoms.

Contagiousness

Cases of pinkeye that are caused by bacteria and viruses are contagious; cases caused by allergies or environmental irritants are not.

A child can get pinkeye by touching an infected person or something an infected person has touched, such as a used tissue. In the summertime, pinkeye can spread when kids swim in contaminated water or share contaminated towels. It also can be spread through coughing and sneezing.

Doctors usually recommend keeping kids diagnosed with contagious conjunctivitis out of school, day care, or summer camp for a short time.

Someone who has pinkeye in one eye can also inadvertently spread it to the other eye by touching the infected eye, then touching the other eye.

Preventing Pinkeye

To prevent pinkeye caused by infections, teach kids to wash their hands often with warm water and soap. They also should not share eye drops, tissues, eye makeup, washcloths, towels, or pillowcases with other people.

Be sure to wash your own hands thoroughly after touching an infected child's eyes, and throw away items like gauze or cotton balls after they've been used. Wash towels and other linens that the child has used in hot water separately from the rest of the family's laundry to avoid contamination.

If you know your child is prone to allergic conjunctivitis, keep windows and doors closed on days when the pollen is heavy, and dust and vacuum frequently to limit allergy triggers in the home. Irritant conjunctivitis can only be prevented by avoiding the irritating causes.

Many cases of pinkeye in newborns can be prevented by screening and treating pregnant women for STDs. A pregnant woman may have bacteria in her birth canal even if she shows no symptoms, which is why prenatal screening is important.

Treatment

Pinkeye caused by a virus usually goes away on its own without any treatment. If a doctor suspects that the pinkeye has been caused by a bacterial infection, antibiotic eye drops or ointment will be prescribed.

Sometimes it can be a challenge to get kids to tolerate eye drops several times a day. If you're having trouble, put the drops on the inner corner of your child's closed eye — when the child opens the eye, the medicine will flow into it. If you continue to have trouble with drops, ask the doctor about antibiotic ointment. It can be applied in a thin layer where the eyelids meet, and will melt and enter the eye.

If your child has allergic conjunctivitis, your doctor may prescribe anti-allergy medication, which comes in the form of pills, liquid, or eye drops.

Cool or warm compresses and acetaminophen or ibuprofen may make a child with pinkeye feel more comfortable. You can clean the edges of the infected eye carefully with warm water and gauze or cotton balls. This can also remove the crusts of dried discharge that may cause the eyelids to stick together first thing in the morning.

When to Call the Doctor

If you think your child has pinkeye, it's important to contact your doctor to learn what's causing it and how to treat it. Other serious eye conditions can mimic conjunctivitis, so a child who complains of severe pain, changes in eyesight, or sensitivity to light should be examined. If the pinkeye does not improve after 2 to 3 days of treatment, or after a week when left untreated, call your doctor.

If your child has pinkeye and starts to develop increased swelling, redness, and tenderness in the eyelids and around the eye, along with a fever, call your doctor. Those symptoms may mean the infection has started to spread beyond the conjunctiva and will require additional treatment.

Tahi lalat

Had this conversation with Alisa on the way sending her to school this morning.

Alisa : Mama, kenapa bila lalat gigit tak ada benda yg hitam keliling?

Me: Lalat dia bukan macam nyamuk, so dia tak gigit pun so tak ada la bengkak.(I thought she meant the bengkak after biten like mosquito)

Alisa : Bukan tu, yg tahi lalat tu...

Me: Ohhhh! tahi lalat tu jadi bukan sebab lalat gigit, dia memang dah ada masa kita lahir.

Alisa: Dah kenapa nama dia tahi lalat?

Me: Hmmm..mama tak tahu nak jawab apa...

Any good answer for the question??:))
