Lasagna

Last weekend I managed to bake lasagna, finally...:)) What is lasagna? Though I'm sure everybody knew it...but would like to story you gals its asal usul:))) Lasagna is basically made from the same ingredients as spaghetti. The only different is its rectangular shape and the way it was cooked!! The prep was quite tedious as we need to prepare for different sauces and then only we can assembe and bake. So if you wanna try, here's the recipes:)))

Ingredients for Meat Sauce:
Instant Lasagna (4 pieces is enough, but it comes in a box 0f 250gm)
2 tbs olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
500g mince meat (i used mince chicken)
2 x 400gm canned tomatoes
salt and pepper

Heat oil in a saucepan.Add onion, carrot and garlic and cook untl soft. Stir in canned tomatoes and some water. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook gently for 20mins.

Ingredients for Cheese sauce:
2tbsp butter
2tbs plain flour
2 cups milk (I used fresh milk)
salt and pepper
125g mozzarella

Melt butter in a separate saucepan, stir in flour and cook for 2 mins over gentle heat. Remove from heat, stir in milk and return to heat. Stir until thick and smooth. Season with salt and pepper and mozzarella cheese. Stirring over low heat until cheese melts.

Assembly:
Pour the meat sauce into a greased baking dish (I used aluminum foil for easy handling). Alternate layers of lasagna, meat sauce and cheese sauce. ending with cheese sauce layer (allow 4 layers). Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. Bake in oven for 30-40mins or until cooked at a 180deg. Test if it was cooked by pricking with the fork. For perfect lasagna, make sure that lasagna sheets are completely covered with the meat sauce to retain a high level of moisture.

Steps to assemble the lasagna...

End product...the lasagna was a lil bit salty. Forgot on the large amount of cheese put in the lasagna (I should have reduce the salt :)).
Aiman didn't like the lasagna:(( so I failed to impress him....
